Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid, Kai Havertz models his game after Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez.
The 20-year-old is arguably the most coveted midfielder in Europe right now with teams like Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Liverpool chasing him.
We can expect a full bidding war over the German international this coming summer and Barca would be wise to participate.
“I am glad that we still held [on to Kai Havertz] this year,” Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller said on German TV programme ‘100% Bundesliga’ this week. “We’ll see how it looks in summer. He still has a contract until 2022 – these are, of course, the classic facts.
“There was already interest in the summer, but we told him that it would be good for him to stay with us for another year. And that was the right decision.”
Havertz has proven to be a very crafty midfielder whose composure and maturity sets him apart from the rest. His playmaking abilities are fine-tuned to levels which cannnot be seen in a lot of veteran footballers. After becoming the youngest player to reach 100 Bundesliga appearances, everyone can agree that his future lies elsewhere.
“Bayern Munich is a great club, but I can’t say I only want to stay in Germany,” Havertz previously said. “Some people want to spend their whole lives here. I’m not that guy. I’m open to anything.”
“Xavi says you play football with your head,” he added to ESPN. “For me, intelligent players are the best players.”
