OFFICIAL: Barcelona Hand Ansu Fati Contract Extension And Set Release Clause At €170m

Ajax is trying to find a new winger before the transfer deadline on Monday. According to De Telegraaf, Ansu Fati of FC Barcelona is one of the four players on the Dutch powerhouses’ shortlist. If the club is unable to bring Portuguese winger Carlos Forbs back from his loan term, they will probably try to sign Barcelona’s 22-year-old striker. The club is now in talks with Wolves about this.

This season, Ansu Fati has made just eight appearances in all competitions. The academy graduate’s playing time has been impacted by injuries, and head coach Hansi Flick has given preference to other players. Last season, Fati was on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, a Premier League team. Although Fati is not on Flick’s side, he wants to stay at Barcelona. In part because it would greatly increase their chances of signing Rashford, the Catalans aim to have the winger’s £200,000 weekly salary taken off the books before the transfer deadline.

Barcelona misfit on Ajax’s radar for January loan deal

Barcelona is amenable to easing the transfer and is even prepared to help with Ansu’s wages. With successful player exchanges in the past, the Catalan team cherishes their close ties with Ajax. They think Ansu might gain from this loan by getting consistent playing time and having the opportunity to get back to his former level of play following a lackluster Brighton stay. Convincing Ansu, nevertheless, is still difficult. Hansi Flick has given the striker few chances, but he has shown no interest in leaving, preferring to battle for his spot at Barcelona.

Even though a loan move would allow Barcelona to continue paying the 22-year-old’s wages, they are still open to bids for Fati. Ajax’s interest could be the new chance he needs to get his career back on track. Before deciding on Ansu’s future in the summer, Barcelona hopes that a successful loan term will help restore his market value.
