Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro has refused to dismiss the possibility of joining Barcelona when the summer transfer window opens.

Spain International Alex Remiro Hints at Possible Barcelona Transfer

The 31-year-old shot-stopper, who remains under contract with the Basque club until the summer of 2027, addressed recent speculation linking him with a move to the Catalan giants.

While fully committed to his current club’s push for Copa del Rey glory, Remiro acknowledged that a transfer to Camp Nou remains a possibility.

“I’ve heard a bit about it on social media, but right now I’m completely focused on Real Sociedad,” Remiro stated, as reported by Sport.

“We have a Copa final and we are very focused and excited to win it. Barca? You never know.”

Barcelona views Remiro as an ideal candidate to strengthen their goalkeeping department for the upcoming season.

The Catalan club reportedly sees the experienced Spaniard as a reliable number two, providing cover behind their established first-choice keeper, Joan Garcia.

A move would represent a significant shift for Remiro, who has served as Real Sociedad’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper since arriving from Athletic Bilbao in 2019.

Over that period, he has made 301 appearances for La Real, including 31 outings across all competitions this season.

The potential arrival of Remiro aligns with expected changes to Barcelona’s goalkeeping roster. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, currently on loan at Girona, is widely anticipated to depart permanently during the summer.

Veteran Wojciech Szczesny holds a contract until next summer but would likely assume a tertiary role behind Garcia and a new signing.

Remiro began his professional career with Athletic Bilbao, where he made 60 appearances before crossing the Basque divide to join Real Sociedad.

His consistent performances have earned him a place in the Spain national team squad for upcoming friendlies against Serbia and Egypt, strengthening his case for selection in the country’s 2026 World Cup squad.

For now, however, Remiro insists his immediate focus remains on Real Sociedad’s Copa del Rey final, with any discussions regarding his future firmly on hold until after the season concludes.
