Antoine Griezmann Reveals Barcelona Are Still Hurting, Happy For Atletico

Antoine Griezmann claimed he is happy for his former club, Atletico Madrid for winning the La Liga title.

Since leaving The Colochoneros, Griezmann has missed out on the league title twice against Real Madrid and now Atletico.

“We’re still hurting,” he said after Barcelona threw away their title hopes in the end. “We slipped up in some important games and now we have to take a break and see if we can improve next season to be a team that can win everything.”

“The most important thing was to win today but we’re still disappointed and we have to work hard,” he added.

When asked reasons behind Barca’s shortcomings, Griezmann added, “Sometimes we have made mistakes in attack. I have missed chances. It’s a bit of everything. Now to work hard and improve.”

“Congratulations to Atletico. I am really happy for them, for Cholo, for Koke, all my friends there… the fans deserve it.”

Barcelona sold Luis Suarez last summer to better accomodate Griezmann. The Uruguayan lifted his 5th La Liga title in the last 7 years.

“Barcelona didn’t value me… they underestimated me and Atletico opened their doors to give me an opportunity. I will always be grateful to this club for trusting in me,” said the Uruguayan marksman in a quote relayed by Fabrizio Romano.

“I know that Messi will be happy for me. He wished me luck the other day.”
