Former Barcelona star Ansu Fati, who was supposed to guide the next generation following Messi’s exit, is currently dealing with a new chapter in his career. The attacker, who has had a difficult time getting back to his best after suffering a string of severe injuries, is getting ready to say goodbye to the Blaugrana team for good this summer.

Given that his development has stopped and that he really needs a change of environment, the Barcelona sporting directorate has decided to extend his departure.

The Spanish-Guinean football player hasn’t been consistent enough to make an impression in the starting lineup. Despite occasional displays of skill, his persistent failures and lack of competitive rhythm have ultimately prevented him from being included in the primary plans.

A promising career that now appears to be coming to an end has not been redirected by loan stints or the patience of the coaching staff. The statistics show a frustrating time that is now coming to an end, both in terms of minutes played and goals scored.

Barcelona close to finalising Ansu Fati’s summer departure

This season’s Champions League league phase saw AS Monaco upset Barcelona, making them that suitor. Fabrizio Romano said that the Ligue 1 team has nearly reached an agreement with Fati, while talks are also in progress with the Catalan team.

For the 2025–2026 season, Fati would sign a loan deal with Monaco, with a buyout option included. Barcelona would also keep a sell-on clause, the exact amount of which has not yet been established, if this were to be invoked.

Depending on the value of Monaco’s buyout option, Barcelona may still be able to get a reasonable price for Fati. The most essential thing is to remove his wages off the books, although it is unlikely that this transaction would result in any substantial financial gain.

It will be intriguing to watch how Fati performs at Monaco the following season, should this move be finalized. His departure will make it simpler to acquire a new left winger in his place, which is what Barcelona sporting director Deco wants.
