Despite manager Hansi Flick’s apparent preference for a colleague, Nico Williams appears to be Barcelona’s main target this summer following his strong performance at Euro 2024. Williams’ €58 million release clause at Athletic Club will likely need to be activated in order for Barcelona to make a serious attempt to sign him this summer.

They think he will spark the fan base’s enthusiasm again, which is one of the reasons. According to Sport, manager Flick and Sporting Director Deco would prefer to sign Dani Olmo as part of the sporting department. The key player for RB Leipzig also has a €60 million release clause, but that one expires on Saturday. Leipzig hopes to work out a deal with Williams in light of the situation.

Deco and Hansi Flick in conflict over big summer signing as their choices revealed

Deco is in favour of Barcelona signing Nico Williams, but Flick is more interested in Dani Olmo. Williams’ aggressive style and dribbling ability, in Deco’s opinion, will make Barca a formidable attacking force. However, Olmo, a forward who can play as a number 10 and is more adaptable than Williams, is what Flick would really like.

Flick’s strategic perspective is based on the knowledge that Barcelona will have a smaller roster, necessitating the necessity for an experienced and versatile club. Olmo is a strong contender to provide depth to Barcelona’s squad due to his versatility as an attacking midfielder and his ability to perform well in a variety of attacking roles.
