Barca will always have door open for Xavi: Abidal

Eric Abidal has insisted that even though they made no offer for Xavi to be Barcelona coach, the Catalan club will always be open to him as manager.

“There was no offer. If he has one, let him show it, because I haven’t seen it. In the first meeting we had, Xavi listened to us, and in the second, he had to tell us his plan,” Abidal said.

“This trip was arrange to go see Ousmane Dembélé, and I sent a message to Xavi to tell him we were traveling to Qatar with Òscar,” he said.

“The club bet on Quique Setién for two years and we trust in him a lot,” Abidal insisted.

“The door for Xavi will always be open. I’m not sure if I’ll be here, but Barça always has a door open.”

After Messi slammed Abidal for firing Valverde, he also replied to that.

“A lot of players were not happy and did not work much and there was also a problem with internal communication,” he told Sport.

“The relationship between the coach and dressing room was always good, but there are things that as an ex-player I can sense. I told the club what I thought and we had to make a decision.”
