Barcelona Agree To Sell Ferran Torres To PSG
Barcelona have reached an agreement to sell Spain’s World Cup final hero Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for approximately €50 million (£42.5m), according to Spanish media reports on Thursday.
The two European heavyweights have established a deal in principle for the 26-year-old attacker to join the French champions on a five-year contract.
Club sources indicate that only the final paperwork and medical examinations remain before the transfer can be officially completed.
The Catalan giants rejected an initial €40 million bid from PSG on Monday, holding out for a higher fee for the versatile forward.
With only one year remaining on his current contract, Barcelona have now agreed to sanction the move for a fee that represents a slight loss on the €55 million they paid Manchester City for his services in 2021.
Torres has proven himself as a valuable squad member since Hansi Flick took charge in the summer of 2024, primarily operating as a centre-forward to provide cover for Robert Lewandowski.
The Valencia academy graduate has been remarkably productive over the past two seasons, finding the net 40 times in 94 appearances across all competitions.
The 26-year-old cemented his place in Spanish football folklore last month when he thrashed home the winning goal during extra time of the World Cup final against Argentina, securing La Roja’s second world title.
His departure will intensify Flick’s search for additional attacking reinforcements, particularly following the exits of Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford.
However, Barcelona have already moved to strengthen their forward line, securing England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
The Torres sale continues PSG’s aggressive recruitment drive as they look to reshape their attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
