Barcelona have reached a full agreement with Manchester City for the signing of Spanish midfielder Rodri, with the player now authorised to travel to Catalonia today to complete his medical and finalise the transfer.

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Blaugrana have already scheduled Rodri’s medical examination, and the 29-year-old is expected to sign a four-year contract that will keep him at Spotify Camp Nou until 2030.

The deal marks a dramatic return to La Liga for Rodri, who left Atlético Madrid seven years ago to join Manchester City.
The two clubs accelerated negotiations over the past few days after Rodri informed City’s hierarchy of his clear desire to depart.
The midfielder had already agreed personal terms with Barcelona two weeks ago, leaving the clubs to resolve the financial framework of the transaction.
Barcelona will pay Manchester City a fixed fee of €60 million for the Spain captain.
Romano adds that the agreement includes €6 million in easily achievable add-ons and a further €10 million in more challenging performance-related bonuses.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that the total package could reach €76.5 million, with more than €11 million of the bonuses considered highly attainable.
Given that Rodri enters the final year of his City contract, the Premier League champions stand to receive a substantial return for their influential midfielder.
If the remaining paperwork proceeds without delays, Barcelona remain confident that they can officially present Rodri as early as Wednesday.
The club plan to unveil him during the Joan Gamper Trophy fixture against Egyptian side Al Ahly at Spotify Camp Nou.
The timing would also allow the midfielder several days to integrate before Barcelona kick off their La Liga campaign against Elche on Sunday, August 23.
Rodri will become Barcelona’s fourth major signing of the 2026-27 season, following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, and Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge.
Joao Cancelo is also set to join in the coming days, underscoring the club’s aggressive squad overhaul under new management.
