Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle with Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva, with the deal now nears to done.

Silva Accepts 60% Pay Cut as Barcelona Close In on Manchester City Star

The Portuguese midfielder will arrive as a free agent this summer once the remaining details fall into place.

Silva’s strong desire to join the Catalan giants has pushed negotiations forward significantly.

He has agreed to take a substantial pay cut of around 60% from his current salary at Manchester City to make the move possible.

However, not everything is finalised yet. Several structural details still require sorting, and manager Hansi Flick will make the final call.

Flick remains open to the signing, but only on one condition: Barcelona must first create space in midfield through player departures.

To accommodate Silva, the club needs to move players on. Marc Casado and Tommy Marques could leave, with Marques potentially departing on loan.

Without these exits, Barcelona cannot complete the operation due to squad balance issues and strict financial restrictions.

At this stage, the club plans no other midfield signings this summer. Silva represents a targeted move rather than a full rebuild.

The 30-year-old wants to accelerate his departure from Manchester City. He prioritises a move to Barcelona above all other options and remains eager to switch to La Liga.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, actively pushes the deal forward and encourages Barcelona to take the final step.

Despite the advanced stage of talks, Barcelona’s financial situation remains the key obstacle.

The club must complete outgoing deals before moving ahead. Silva’s arrival depends entirely on those departures happening first.
