Barcelona will take another significant step tomorrow in their ongoing strategy to secure the future of their best young players. In order to further solidify Barca’s belief in Marc Bernal as a pivotal player for the future, the midfielder is anticipated to formally extend his contract with the team.
In La Masia, the 18-year-old is highly regarded for his intellect, poise with the ball, and capacity to manage a game’s speed despite his youth. Numerous European teams have already expressed interest in him, but Barcelona has taken swift action to minimize the possibility of losing one of their most talented midfield players.
The club’s long-term goal of combining seasoned players with youth products is highlighted by Bernal’s extension. Barcelona continues to invest in domestic potential, as evidenced by the signings of players like Lamine Yamal, Cubarsi, and now Bernal.
The athlete and club leadership are anxious to formalize the agreement, and the official announcement is anticipated tomorrow, September 29.
Barcelona midfield prodigy signs new contract until 2029
“FC Barcelona and Marc Bernal have agreed to extend the player’s contract through June 2029,” the club said in a statement. “Barça president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafael Yuste, and the director of the Football Area, Deco, were all present at the signing, which took place Monday morning at the Club Offices.”
One of the best young players to emerge from La Masia in recent years is thought to be Bernal. After making an impression on Hansi Flick during preseason, the youthful player made his first-team debut last season.
But the teenage midfielder was sidelined for more than a year due to an ACL injury just three games into the season. In less than ten minutes, Bernal returned to action against Valencia earlier this month following an injury layoff.
However, he is not taking any chances, and it is anticipated that he will eventually play a much larger part in Flick’s plans at Barcelona.
