FC Barcelona’s #1 goal going into the 2026 summer transfer window is to get a new center forward. The Blaugrana’s top aim is Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, as has previously been extensively publicised. Atletico does not want to sell the Argentine international in the summer, so any deal for him is unlikely to be simple.

Because of the uncertainty surrounding Julian Alvarez’s possible transfer, Mundo Deportivo says that FC Barcelona is considering other possibilities for the striker position. There are still a number of possibilities available within the club for the No. 9 position, all of which match the ideal profile. Knowing that this is a position that would probably need reinforcement during the summer transfer window, Barça has been getting ready for a while.

Victor Osimhen, a striker for Galatasaray and Nigeria, is one of the names on the table, although he isn’t seen to be the best choice. After two successful seasons at Galatasaray, where he scored 56 goals in 70 games, the 27-year-old is back in the spotlight. His contract is valid until 2029.

Barcelona ready to sign Victor Osimhen

If the Catalan club’s bid to recruit Argentine star Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid fails, the management has reportedly chosen to concentrate on the signing of 27-year-old Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray, according to MundoDeportivo.

Although Alvarez is still Barcelona’s top aim at the moment, the Blaugrana recognise the necessity for a backup plan in case Alvarez decides to leave Spain due to continuous rumours connecting him to London’s Arsenal.

Victor Osimhen’s fiery and difficult temperament, which caused problems while he was at Napoli, is the primary worry of Barcelona’s management. However, Osimhen’s behaviour may be significantly altered by Hansi Flick’s German rigour and discipline.

Julian Alvarez’s future ultimately determines Osimhen’s transfer to Barcelona. Osimhen paid €75 million to join Galatasaray as a permanent player in the summer of 2025 from Napoli.

The Nigerian has made 29 appearances for the Turkish powerhouses this season, scoring 19 goals and dishing out seven assists. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €75 million, and his contract with Galatasaray expires in 2029.
