Barcelona is apparently seeking to buy Luis Diaz from Liverpool this summer, but they have placed a price cap. Barcelona still has the forward as their top target, but they won’t be able to match Liverpool’s €80 million asking price.

Instead, Diario Sport claims that Barcelona is prepared to spend up to €60 million this summer in an attempt to recruit Diaz. With a contract at Anfield that finishes in 2027 and a player who has already turned 28, the Catalans believe that is a reasonable price.

Although it’s unclear what Liverpool would make of that, if they buy Florian Wirtz for €150 million, there’s a hunch that the Premier League winners will want to let go of players this summer. However, if Barcelona wants to get Diaz, they might also need to make a significant summer sale, though it’s unclear which players might be let go.

Luis Diaz transfer with Barcelona pushing hard for €60m

Barcelona and Saudi Pro League teams are interested in Diaz this summer, and his circumstances at Liverpool have caused uncertainty. According to reports, there are no intentions to sell or negotiate an extension, even though the Colombian is approaching the last two years of his deal.

Although some people took this as an invitation for high-profile offers from the Middle East, Liverpool has previously turned down Barcelona’s approach, stating that their number seven is not up for sale.

Although Diaz was initially their top choice, Barcelona is attempting to work things out with Williams because of Liverpool’s unwillingness to do business. The pursuit of Diaz, who is reportedly valued at over €80 million (£68.2 million), would obviously be eliminated if Williams were to join Barcelona.

It’s unclear if the business savvy in Liverpool’s leadership would concur, given that Diaz will turn 29 in January of next year and be at the top of his market worth. There is no indication, however, that choices will be taken that would jeopardize Slot’s goals for the team and future success.
