Barcelona will have to pay up €40m if they want Andre Onana back at Camp Nou.
The Ajax goalkeeper is very much open to the idea of returning to Barcelona, having trained with them at youth level.
He graduated from the famed La Masia academy and moved to Amsterdam for regular playing time. His decision proved to be the right one as he stands as one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in Europe right now. Chelsea are interested in signing him and Barca could be looking at him as a second option to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
“It’s hard to say because with FC Barcelona, I am still in very good relations with the president, the coaches,” Onana told Canal+ Afrique. “As I said earlier, Barca is my home. If I have to go back, I will go back. But today we are still far from it. I’m the Ajax goalkeeper and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. I only take care of the ball game, what happens at the stadium. The rest are my agents who manage.”
Barcelona do have an uphill battle on their hands with Chelsea rivaling them for Onana. The Blues are much more motivated to replace their first-choice keeper, Kepa whereas it is not a pressing matter for the Catalan giants. Quique Setien and the Camp Nou chiefs are much more invested in bringing back Neymar which is bound to cost a whole lot more.
