Barcelona are edging closer to the signing of Eric Garcia from Manchester City.
For months, the defender has been on top of Barca’s priority list for the summer transfer window.
So far, they have failed to strike a deal with City. With Pep Guardiola still at the helm, it will be difficult to get such a promising young talent out of Manchester. Garcia is rated highly both in England and Spain. He is a product of Barca’s famed La Masia academy but made the switch over to City when he was only 16.
City promoted him to the senior side and he impressed on various occasions. Unfortunately, the centre-backs aim has always been to return to his homeland and play for Barca. His first-ever professional contract is set to last until June next year and the Cityzens are not any closer to securing his future.
A contract extension is ideal but it seems Garcia is adamant on going back. If that were to be the case, it makes no sense for City to lose him for free. Barca are not going to meet their €15m valuation but might make an offer of €12m.
