Barcelona coach Hansi Flick had mixed feelings about his team’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the win, Flick demanded more from his players, emphasizing the need for consistent pressing and better defensive discipline.

Flick’s dissatisfaction stemmed from moments when his team sank too deep, allowing Real Madrid players too much space.

“We need to maintain pressure for the full 90 minutes,” Flick stated, clearly committed to the high-pressing philosophy prevalent among modern German coaches.

Pau Victor emerged as the standout performer, scoring both goals for Barcelona. The young striker, being touted as a future replacement for Robert Lewandowski, showcased his potential with a clinical performance.

Yet, Flick remains cautious about his immediate future with the senior squad, saying, “We’ll see what happens,” leaving open the possibility of Victor returning to the Barca Atletic reserves.

Despite the victories against European heavyweights like Manchester City and Real Madrid, Flick believes there’s room for improvement.

“We’ve done great, but we need to address some issues,” he said, acknowledging both the positives and areas needing attention.

Flick also praised the younger players, highlighting the experience they’re gaining on the U.S. tour. “Having players who are 16, 17, 18 years old here is fantastic,” he remarked, showing his faith in Barcelona’s youth development.

As Barcelona prepares to face AC Milan in Baltimore, Flick’s message is clear: the team must elevate its game, maintaining intensity and pressure throughout.

With promising talents like Pau Victor stepping up, the future looks bright, but Flick’s high standards ensure there’s no room for complacency.
