Barcelona coach, Quique Setien speaks following the 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo
The Blaugrana were impressive in the first half with Riqui Puig gaining the attention in his first league game. Luiz Suarez scored a brace but Barca were unable to hold on to the lead.
Iago Aspas’ late freekick denied victory for Barcelona. Real Madrid have the opportunity to jump to the top of the table when they face Espanyol.
After the game Setien told the media, “We controlled a large part of the game, but we failed to score more goals. The consequences have been fatal, Celta Vigo’s equalizer hurt us a lot.
“We lacked the ability to keep hold of the ball in the last minutes. Celta are committed to moving forward in the mix and we have done things we don’t normally do, we pulled back.
“We have less and less room for error and, in theory, we will have to win every remaining game while we wait for Madrid to drop some points. We lack the strength to transform our dominance into goals. In the first half we could have solved the game.”
“Now we wait and see if Madrid drops points.”
When asked about why Griezmann was benched, he added, “I don’t care if signings are expensive or cheap. These are technical decisions that I make thinking they can be the best for the team.”
