RB Leipzig is considering a deal for the former defender, which could earn Barcelona €10 million. This season, Oscar Mingueza made a significant breakthrough that has been widely reported. The former Barcelona youth star’s performances at Celta Vigo are receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. As a result of his right-back exploits, Mingueza was even called up to the Spanish national squad this season.
Mingueza has also emerged as a desirable possibility in the transfer market, having recorded two goals and five assists in 14 league games. Intriguingly, Barcelona has also been linked to a deal for Mingueza as they look to bolster their right-back depth. However, Miguel Rico says that RB Leipzig has entered the battle to recruit Mingueza, meaning Barcelona will have fierce competition.
Barcelona set for transfer windfall as RB Leipzig
This deal is proving to be a good piece of business for the Catalans today, as the defender has had a very good start to the 2024-25 season, in which he has already accumulated 2 goals and 5 assists in his 14 matches up to now. This performance at the start of the season has naturally attracted the attention of other European sides, and according to the journalist Miguel Rico (h/t Barca Times), the German club RB Leipzig have prepared an offer of €20 million for him.
With the rights that Barcelona has on him, they will get half of this amount, €10 million, if this move materializes. The Catalans can also match this offer to get a priority right on the player, but they are currently betting on Hector Fort to be the substitute for Jules Kounde and thus will not be looking to pay even €10 million for him.
