The ambition to join Barcelona has never been a secret to Benjamin Pavard
If the German champions sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City on a permanent basis, the Bayern Munich defender is likely to be open to transfers in the summer.
Pavard would probably be the ideal right back for Barcelona, who are in dire need of one. Rumors suggest that the 26-year-old would like to play in central defence, as he did at Stuttgart before joining Bayern, rather than on the right, which would be inconvenient for Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez.
However, Barcelona would probably at least consider the idea of Pavard going to Catalonia in the summer, though they will probably encounter competition.
According to many reports, Pavard turned down a transfer to Inter Milan in January in order to remain available for Barça, but MD think the Italian powerhouses will make another attempt to sign the Frenchman in the summer.
If Inter were to sign Pavard, they would probably play him as a centre back, which might give them the edge over Barcelona in the battle for the defender’s services.
