Following his dismissal during Saturday’s victory over Girona, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is scheduled to serve a touchline suspension for El Clasico. At Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Flick, 60, was sent off in the closing moments of the La Liga match after it was determined that he had mockingly cheered an officiating call.
Referee Jesus Gil Manzano issued the Barca head coach a yellow card after he cheered the additional four minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match, with the score at 1-1. Because he had complained about his first booking, he was subsequently given a second yellow card.
Flick will not be on the touchline at the Bernabeu for the season’s opening Clasico encounter against Real Madrid on October 26 due to a minimum one-match touchline ban.
Following the game, Flick remarked, “Emotions and tension are central to football.” It was merely a celebration, and they weren’t directed at anyone.
Hansi Flick will not be on the touchline for Barca in the El Clasico
A dispute between Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, and the match referee occurred just minutes before the goal. Referee Gil Manzano quickly issued two yellow cards to the German. As a result, he will now watch the El Clásico from the stands instead of the dugout.
Hansi Flick was sent off after receiving a second yellow card just a few minutes prior to Araujo’s victory. The Catalan team may also be without several of their best players for the October 26 match, so it’s a setback. It appears that Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski will not play at the Bernabeu.
Given the situation, Barcelona’s victory was significant, and it should serve as a message to Real Madrid when they visit Getafe. Despite finishing second in the table, Girona resisted the champions. It proves that La Liga is a difficult league.
