Vanderson is a 23-year-old right-back from AS Monaco who is being closely watched by FC Barcelona. Vanderson has been a target for the Catalan team for a while now, after Deco, their football director, recommended him. He is among the possible possibilities being considered to bolster a position that currently includes Héctor Fort, who has seen little playing time this season, and Jules Koundé, a converted central defender in outstanding form.
Currently, AS Monaco, a major player in France, is not thinking about selling a player who is worth more than €30 million. Currently in his fourth season in Ligue 1, Vanderson is originally from Greece. In the Champions League opener against Barcelona, he was replaced just two minutes before the end of the game. He has played 25 games this season, two more than at this point last year.
Barcelona keeping tabs on €20 million-rated defender
Barcelona is reportedly targeting Brazil’s Vanderson, a right-back, and AS Monaco as summer targets, according to Mundo Deportivo. Director Deco has long been aware of the 23-year-old’s abilities and has kept him on the Blaugrana’s radar. The right-back also played against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League opener, but he was replaced two minutes before the end.
The Brazilian would appreciate a change of scenery and a chance to join Barça specifically, as his contract is set to expire in 2028. However, AS Monaco does not currently consider selling a player who is worth more than €30 million. In fact, the Ligue 1 team has ruled him non-transferable, and they are more worried about Premier League clubs showing interest than Barcelona.
