Barcelona are keen to re-sign Cancelo ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Barcelona have reportedly been given a boost in their pursuit of Man City full-back Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese has made 154 appearances since joining Man City in the summer of 2019.
Cancelo hasn’t been regular under Pep Guardiola and has not played for the club since January 2023, He spent time out on loan during this period.
The 30-year-old spent the second half of the 2022-23 season with Bayern Munich. He was loaned out to Barcelona for the 2023-24 season. He netted four goals and five assists in 42 appearances at Camp Nou.
Barcelona are keen to re-sign the Man City defender ahead of the 2024-25 season. As per the reports of Sport, Cancelo has made it clear that he wants to return to Barcelona this summer. The report adds that Cancelo has turned down offers from elsewhere, including a proposal from his former club Juventus.
Juventus boss Thiago Motta is planning to re-sign Man City’s best defender. The Catalan giants are continuing to hold talks with Man City over a potential deal.
The Premier League winners want to secure a permanent sale and have set a €25m asking price. Cancelo is still under contract until the summer of 2027.
The Cityzens are willing to soften their stance and entertain a loan move with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
