Veteran goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has informed Barcelona officials that he intends to see out his current contract at the Spotify Camp Nou, ending recent speculation about a possible summer departure.

The Polish shot-stopper joined Barcelona early in the 2024-25 season as an emergency replacement for the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
After a strong second half of that campaign, Szczesny now finds himself in a backup role – a position he says suits him perfectly.
Szczesny currently holds a contract with the Catalan club until 2027. However, reports had suggested that a clause in his agreement would allow him to leave this summer if he so wished.
Barcelona had already begun exploring potential replacements, with Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro emerging as a possible target.
But those contingency plans are no longer necessary. According to Tot Costa, relayed by Sport, the 34-year-old has already notified club bosses of his firm decision to remain.
Barcelona can now put any goalkeeper search on hold for at least another 12 months.
