According to reports, Barcelona has entered the competition to sign Eli Junior Kroupi, a young, talented player from Bournemouth who has excelled in the Premier League this year. Even though Kroupi is only 19 years old, he has already scored 19 goals for Andoni Iraola’s team in his first complete English football season after joining from Lorient for £10 million in January 2025.
Numerous Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, have expressed interest in his performances. According to the Daily Mail, Kroupi may now include Barcelona on his list of admirers ahead of the summer transfer window.
Although Bournemouth would want to cling onto the youngster, they are probably going to sell if attractive bids come in. According to recent rumours, as interest in Kroupi’s services grew, the Cherries put a €70 million price tag on him.
Despite trading its greatest players in recent seasons, including Milos Kerez, Antoine Semenyo, and Dean Huijsen, the Premier League team has managed to prosper in the English top division.
Barcelona join race for 19-year-old Bournemouth forward
According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona is now the most recent elite team in Europe to enter the competition for striker Eli Junior Kroupi of AFC Bournemouth. The 19-year-old striker, who can also play on the left, joined Bournemouth last summer after rising through the ranks at Lorient in France.
With 12 goals in 30 games during his strong Premier League debut season, no youngster has ever scored more in their first season in the English top division. Top teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United have all expressed interest in Kroupi due to his excellent start to the Premier League.
The source now claims that Barça has also entered the race to recruit the France U21 international. It should be mentioned that in 2024, the adolescent piqued the curiosity of the Catalans. Since Kroupi’s contract with Bournemouth expires in 2030, the Cherries are understandably hesitant to let rid of the young player.
However, a sale would be feasible if the proper offer is made, as the team plans to choose a new manager and sports director at the end of the current campaign. Kroupi is now another prospect that Barcelona is keeping an eye on, although there is little indication that the young striker is a real target.
