Barcelona has secured two important La Liga registrations ahead of their first game of the 2025–26 season against RCD Mallorca later this evening.
In fact, Barça was able to register Marcus Rashford, another new addition, once Joan Garcia’s league registration was verified earlier this morning.
The Catalans have the option to purchase the 27-year-old English attacker, who joined on a season-long loan from Manchester United this summer.
Although there were worries over his registration, Rashford has always maintained his intention to join Barcelona despite receiving offers from other teams. According to sources, the Blaugrana might not be able to register him in time for their match against Mallorca today.
Nevertheless, Barça has succeeded in its aspirations after persistent efforts, and Rashford is now formally registered in La Liga, with his name now showing on the league website’s official transfers page.
Marcus Rashford Registration Verdicts Ahead of La Liga Opener
While La Liga granted Barcelona’s request to waive injured goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen’s salary, which allowed them to acquire García, there was more worry about Rashford, with many speculating that he would have to miss Saturday’s match against Mallorca.
Luckily for manager Hansi Flick, who stated that he was not happy about the uncertainty, La Liga has finally added Rashford and García to their roster. Just hours before the Mallorca match on Saturday, August 16, both players were added.
However, a number of celebrities are still awaiting a final decision about their registrations, so there is still work to be done. Wojciech Szczęsny, the goalkeeper, who signed a new contract this summer when his old one expired, is not yet a member of the team, and neither defender Gerard Martín nor new recruit Roony Bardghji is visible.
The three, who are anticipated to all formally join Flick’s team by the end of the summer, will require further fundraising efforts to register.
