Barcelona has an agreement to sign Cardoso Varela, one of the most promising young wingers in Europe, according to Mundo Deportivo. In order to recruit the 17-year-old from Dinamo Zagreb, the Catalan club reportedly agreed to a contract of €5 million fixed plus a further €20 million in variables.
Varela, a Portuguese star making waves in Croatia, has already established himself at the senior level and has been a notable player for Dinamo Zagreb’s junior setup. The young player’s current contract with the team expires in 2028, so Barcelona will need to wait until then to finalise his entrance.
Insiders think that if his present trend continues, a move to Catalonia is just a matter of time, even if Zagreb is adamant about keeping him for at least two more years. In order to track Varela’s development and future plans, Barcelona has been in close communication with his agent, Andy Bara. Deco, the sports director, has really developed a personal interest in the athlete.
Barcelona ready to offer €25M for Varela
The teenage striker’s agent, Andy Bara, has already had many meetings with Deco, Barcelona’s sports director, but the Croatian club is still rejecting the Catalans’ efforts.
It should be noted that Cardoso Varela has already made nine official appearances for the main squad of Dinamo Zagreb, scoring one goal in a Europa League match against Malmo. The 17-year-old attacker is worth 277,000 euros and has a contract with Dinamo Zagreb till 2028.
There is an intriguing surprise in spite of all these advancements. The Blaugrana are also keeping a careful eye on Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan from Manchester United and having a great season, even though Varela seems too eager to join Barcelona at this point.
Before deciding when to make a firm bid for Varela, the Catalan team is reportedly assessing Rashford’s performances. Nevertheless, Barcelona is still certain that Cardoso Varela’s potential justifies the wait, and the foundation for the move has been established.
