Anthony Gordon, a key offensive player for Newcastle, is expected to sign with Barcelona before Bayern Munich and Liverpool. Ben Jacobs claims that Anthony Gordon’s services will soon be acquired by Barcelona. An agreement to recruit the English international has been struck in principle between Newcastle and the Catalan giants. For the former Everton star, they will pay £70 million plus incentives.
In an effort to finalise the agreement as soon as possible, Hansi Flick’s staff has set up a physical for this week. Both Liverpool and Bayern Munich were interested in signing him, but it appears they will lose out.
The 25-year-old and the German powerhouses had reached a personal agreement. However, they were slow to reach an agreement with the Magpies, and as of right now, Barcelona is about to seize the opportunity. He might have greatly strengthened their offensive rotation; therefore, Vincent Kompany was pressing hard to sign him.
Barcelona agree to a deal to sign Anthony Gordon
According to reports, Gordon considered his time at Newcastle to be the finest three and a half years of his life. He is really appreciative of what his teammates and the club’s coaching staff have done for him.
The England attacker, however, has never concealed his desire to reach the “very top” as he travels to Barcelona for a physical and to finalise his £69.3 million transfer. Matt Ritchie, a former teammate at Newcastle, is more aware of that than most.
He stated it’s his application and work ethic. His goal is to become the finest version of himself. He couldn’t have been in better hands when it came to working with Eddie [Howe] and all the Newcastle coaches. Knowing Ant as I do, you can see that he has great ideas and aspirations based on his demeanour on the pitch.
He developed into a team player, but he will always possess the edge and restrained haughtiness that all of these elite players possess, so I’m not shocked that he’s joining a team of Barcelona’s calibre.
