The Argentine forward Julian Alvarez plays for Manchester City, and Barcelona and a few other teams have expressed interest in him
Although he joined the team in the summer, the 23-year-old attacker signed for the Cityzens in January of last year from River Plate. Since then, he has had a respectable effect on Pep Guardiola’s team, scoring ten goals in 30 games. Alvarez, who helped Argentina win the FIFA World Cup last year, has been forced to make do with a supporting position at the Etihad Stadium because Erling Haaland is the undisputed starter there.
According to the report, if his role does not greatly improve in the upcoming months, there may be a chance for a loan move during the summer transfer window. Barcelona is one of the teams that have inquired about the Argentinian forward amid rumours that he might go out on loan.
Next summer, the Catalans will be looking to add a new striker, and one of their main targets is Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque. The Brazilian will probably cost between €35 and €40 million, which could be difficult given the club’s present financial situation. Regardless of that, they are anticipated to continue pursuing the 17-year-old attacker.
Alvarez is one of the possible targets, but it also appears that they are keeping their options open and making inquiries. Despite the fact that his current contract is set to expire in 2027, the report claims that Manchester City is already in negotiations to extend it. An agreement has not yet been made, though.
Additionally, if his position in Guardiola’s plan does not change, a summer loan departure may be in the cards. Barcelona is one of the teams that is aware of the scenario. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Blaugrana look into the free transfer and loan markets in the summer given the Fair Play scenario.
