As they continue to plan for the new season, FC Barcelona’s head coach Hansi Flick is in dire need of a right-back to rival Jules Koundé. Despite being signed as a central defender at first, the Frenchman has shown himself to be a dependable performer in that role. Flick thinks having a strong backup is crucial to keeping the defensive equilibrium and giving Koundé the time he needs when he needs it.

The right-back Vanderson of AS Monaco is one player who has drawn Barcelona’s interest. The 23-year-old Brazilian has already made a name for himself as a vital member of the principality team, and other European clubs have expressed interest in him due to his Ligue 1 performances. Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has had Vanderson on his radar for a while.

Barcelona revive interest in Monaco right-back Vanderson

The main obstacle Barcelona faces is competition from Premier League teams, who have more financial clout and may make a better offer to both Monaco and the player. But Vanderson has stated that he would like to move to one of the best clubs in Europe, and Barcelona is one of his top choices.

During the summer transfer window, Barcelona will need to make a number of big sales in order to make Vanderson’s arrival possible. The club might think about selling one of Ronald Araujo or Frenkie de Jong if a high offer is made, then reinvesting some of the proceeds in Vanderson or other strategic reinforcements. Knowing that a strong defense is essential to his mission, Hansi Flick does not want to start the season without a trustworthy right-back.

Barcelona is closely monitoring Vanderson’s status, and he is currently on the shortlist of candidates. They could make the Brazilian the first defensive signing of the Flick era if they can clear space in the team and agree on a fair fee.
