It seems as though he is rather comfortable staying at Schalke and would like to stay beyond the summer period.
But as luck would have it for Todibo, Schalke is enduring deep losses right now, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has weakened the financial reigns of several Bundesliga – even the big clubs – and Schalke hasn’t been spared either. With financial troubles, the Bundesliga club will not be able to afford Todibo for another season.
“You don’t have to be a prophet to say that the likelihood has actually decreased due to the current crisis situation,” said Schalke’s sports director Jochen Schneider when asked about possibly signing the Barcelona defender.
Todibo is more than ready to stay at Schalke and gives his reasons for staying on. He wants to stay there long-term, not as a loaned player, and have a future with club, since Barcelona has no plans for him currently when he returns.
“First of all, I want to finish the season and achieve a good place. As for the future: I can very well imagine staying at Schalke.”, he said.
Todibo further says that he likes several things about Schalke and how he feels about the club.
“The stadium, the incredibly passionate fans, the coach who gives me a lot of confidence. I settled in quickly. The whole package is just right. “
