Barcelona have started laying the groundwork for their summer transfer business.
Barcelona Approach Roma Star Ndicka Ahead of Summer Window
The club’s sporting department is actively searching for a left-footed centre-back, a role they consider a priority following the likely departure of veteran defender Iñigo MartÃnez.
According to sources close to the situation, the Blaugrana have made preliminary enquiries regarding AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka.
The 26-year-old Ivorian has emerged as a potential candidate to reinforce the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence.
Ndicka fits the specific profile the Catalan giants seek. He is tall, left-footed, and comfortable in possession—qualities essential for a team that builds play from the back.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt man is enjoying a strong season in Serie A, featuring in 31 matches and scoring three goals for the Giallorossi.
However, Barcelona’s interest remains in the very early stages. Sources from the Italian capital indicate that the Spanish club has not contacted Roma directly.
Instead, approaches have been made to the player’s entourage to understand his contractual situation and the general conditions of a potential transfer.
Roma do not view Ndicka as untouchable. If a suitable offer arrives next summer, the Italian side would likely consider selling.
It is important to clarify that this is currently just an exploratory move. There are no active negotiations, nor has Barcelona submitted a formal proposal. The club is simply casting a wide net as part of their normal scouting process.
Ndicka is one of several names on the list. Previous reports have linked the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Nathan Ake, and Micky van de Ven with a move to Catalonia.
The final decision will heavily depend on Barcelona’s financial situation and their ability to operate under the 1:1 spending rule.
For now, the sporting department will continue evaluating options. Ndicka remains a viable candidate, but the club has not yet made a definitive choice regarding their defensive reinforcements for the summer window.
