There is a major development for the signing of Cancelo and Barcelona are keen to get him back. New Barca head Hansi Flick is keen for the Catalan to re-sign Manchester City defender this summer.
The Portugal international was on laon last season and mae 42 appearances. His loan stint is over and Barcelona want to sign him permanently. He is not in the future plan of Manchester City.
The right-back is yet to return to Man City for pre-season training due to his involvement in Euro 2024. The player himself wants to play for Barcelona next season.
Man City are thought to want €25m for the Portuguese defender and it won’t be easy for Barcelona. They are already in the market to sign Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
Al-Ahli and Al Ettifaq have allegedly made it clear that they are prepared to meet Man City’s asking price. As per reporting of Mundo Deportivo, Flick has made it clear that he wants Cancelo to be the team’s right-back once again during the 2024-25 season.
Cancelo’s agent Jorge Mendes is busy to find all best options. He may look for another loan stint. Juventus and Inter Milan have also been credited with an interest in Cancelo.
Cancelo netted four goals and provided five assists in his 42 outings for Barcelona last season. He has nine goals and 21 assists in 154 appearances for Man City in all competitions.
