Barcelona have huge plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Catalan club want to get in 4 brand new players in this summer. However, along with that, they also want to give away 9 existing players. They are looking to rebuild their first team squad entirely, according to Spanish Football expert Guillem Balague.
Barcelona is currently sitting at the top of the La Liga table, ever since the League got suspended due to the spread of coronavirus in Europe. They are two points ahead of second placed Real Madrid, who are at 56 points.
It’s no startling news that Barcelona have had a difficult season. After sacking Ernesto Valverde in January, former Real Betis Quique Setien came in to take his place.
And hence, it comes as no surprise that Barcelona would like sign in more players to, especially since Messi is the only one holding the squad together.
The La Liga giants are looking at Neymar to be reunited from Paris Saint-Germain and striker Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan. However, with Barcelona’s dwindling financial stability due to the coronavirus spread, it might get difficult for them sign these two.
In light of this, Barcelona might just turn to selling off several of their existing first team players.
“I think it will be a possibility of getting rid of Griezmann and perhaps Griezmann will feel that is the thing to do too,” stated Guillem Balague on his Youtube channel.
“Neymar is a priority and that’s why I’m saying the departure perhaps of Griezmann and/or [Philippe] Coutinho will help on the finances for that.”
