Barcelona are prepared to sell Ronald Araujo this summer as new contract talks drag on

Xavi Hernandez rates the guy highly and plans to build his team’s defence around him in the future. However, club president Joan Laporta is open to the 22-year-old Uruguayan, understanding that Barcelona needs finances to sign top targets next season.

Araujo now has a €200 million release clause at Barcelona. Meanwhile, Laporta believes he is worth roughly €60 million and will not hesitate to authorise a deal if a club matches that figure this summer.

Barcelona are not ruling anything out, and they will not be surprised by any unexpected surprises that arise. Joan Laporta wants Araujo to stay, but he has made it plain that the club comes first, and any offers will have to be examined if they arrive.

Barcelona has made contact with the 23-year-camp, old’s and discussions are underway. Despite the fact that his contract expires in 2023, the Blaugrana consider Araujo as a key component of their future.

Chelsea and Manchester United are just two Premier League teams that have been keeping a close watch on the Uruguayan’s predicament.

Meanwhile, Gavi’s circumstance is much different. Barcelona believes they will be able to reach an easy arrangement with the midfielder, and discussions are currently taking place on good terms. The club wants him to extend his contract until 2026.
