Joan Laporta confirms no more signings this January for Barcelona.

The Catalan giants won’t be able to make any new signings this January window as they have to adhere to the Spanish Financial Fair Play.

La Liga’s financial fair play rules have forced Messi’s departure in the summer of 2021.

Barcelona could only make few signings if they manage to offload some players from their roster.

Joan Laporta also claims that the club needs to generate more income and reduce costs.

“We had to make some levers, which were economic operations that saved the club from ruin, and now the club is in economic recovery,” he said.

“But despite that, according to the rules of financial fair play of the Spanish league, we can not sign.

“Us and some other LaLiga clubs are also trying to convince LaLiga to be more flexible, and allow us other types of interpretations that can make Barcelona even stronger.”
