Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has delivered an update on Lautaro Martinez transfer speculations.
The 22 year old Inter Milan striker is sought after by Barcelona for a while now and the Bartomeu has now revealed that before La Liga had restarted, the Catalan club had a talk with Inter Milan. However, now, the talks are on a pause till the Europa League finishes.
“Before La Liga resumed we talked to Inter, but a few weeks ago we interrupted the negotiations because the matches were restarting. They have the Europa League and we will wait for that to finish.”
However, Barcelona is not the only behind vying to get 22 year old genius striker Martinez on board. Manchester City have their radar up as well, especially after Owen Hargreaves has urged City to keep Lautaro as their prime option to replace Sergio Aguero with.
The former Blues midfielder told BT Sport: “I know Manchester City are looking for a replacement for Aguero, Martinez is your guy.
“He’s got everything. He’s skilful, a lethal finisher. He’s got everything – [he’s just] 22 years old.
“He’s the type of player whether at Barcelona or Manchester City they’re going to get a really special player.”
However, Inter Milan are not still sure if they want to let Martinez go.
