Barcelona has set a clear exit fee for young defender Gerard Martin, valuing the 23-year-old left-back at €15 million.
Barca targets pure profit: La Masia graduate Martin available for €15m
This move comes as the Catalan club actively pushes to finalize player sales this summer, urgently needing to generate income and clear salary space to register new signings.
While departures like Pau Victor and Pablo Torre (to Mallorca) proceeded smoothly, other potential exits, including those of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Oriol Romeu, face complications.
Amidst this, Martin has emerged as a player Barcelona is willing to sell for the right price.
According to reports, the club has established the €15 million figure as their asking price. If an offer meets this valuation, Barcelona is prepared to negotiate Martin’s departure.
Despite Martin delivering solid performances last season, new manager Hansi Flick reportedly favors fullbacks with a stronger attacking emphasis.
First-choice left-back Alejandro Balde perfectly fits this profile, and youngster Jofre Torrents also impressed Flick during preseason, notably against Vissel Kobe.
Flick’s tactical preference for aggressive, attack-minded fullbacks pushes Martin down the pecking order.
While Martin offers defensive stability and balance, his profile doesn’t align as closely with Flick’s desired system as Balde or Torrents.
Crucially, any sale of Martin would represent pure profit for Barcelona’s strained finances.
As a product of the club’s youth system (promoted from Barcelona Atletic), his transfer fee would directly boost the club’s coffers without impacting amortization costs.
Given the pressing need to raise funds and register players, selling Martin at the €15 million price point is seen as a viable and potentially necessary option for the Blaugrana.
