Pau Victor, a striker who impressed while on loan with Rafa Marquez’s team last season and finished as the team’s top scorer with 20 goals, is expected to sign a permanent agreement with Girona and join Barcelona’s first team squad for the upcoming campaign.
Victor returned to Girona after Barcelona decided not to exercise the purchase option in his loan agreement. However, the team has since held talks with their local rivals and is expected to sign Victor for approximately €3 million, as reported by Que Thi Jugues. Following his signing, Victor will work with Hansi Flick’s first team and may even be selected for the senior squad for the upcoming campaign.
Barcelona closes deal in €3 million for Girona star
It should be noted that Victor, a 22-year-old Spaniard who scored 20 goals and assisted six more for Barça Atletico last season, which saw them nearly advance to La Liga 2, was subject to a clause that Barcelona had until April to activate in order to sign him permanently for a fee of €3 million.
But as previously stated, Victor is expected to be a part of the first-team dynamics rather than the reserve team once he returns. Since Marc Guiu has already left and Vitor Roque’s future is uncertain, Victor may be able to back up Robert Lewandowski at the No. 9 position.
