Barcelona receive transfer boost for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams

Barcelona are believed to be willing to activate Williams’s €55m release clause.

Barcelona are keen to get the signature of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. They have received a boost in their pursuit of the Spanish striker.

Barcelona are leading the race to sign the Spain international. He scored eight goals and provided 19 assists in 37 competitive appearances last season. He helped Athletic win the Copa del Rey and finish in fifth place at La Liga.

Williams was a key figure in Spain’s successful Euro 2024 campaign, scoring two goals and an assist in six games. He has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

The La Liga man wants to play in the Spanish top-flight only and Barcelona are frontrunner to sign the 22-year-old player. According to Sport, the Athletic Bilbao winger has turned down the offer from PSG.

It’s a big boost and Barcelona are now ready to make a solid offer. They are believed to be willing to activate Williams’s €55m release clause, and there has been a suggestion that the player is open to a move to Camp Nou.
