According to reports, FC Barcelona turned down a proposal from Manchester United for a trade that would have sent Antony to Camp Nou in exchange for Frenkie de Jong. Since 2022, the Red Devils have been associated with the Dutchman; in fact, in July of the same year, their proposal for the Netherlands international was accepted.
The move never happened, unfortunately for Erik ten Hag, since De Jong showed little interest in moving from Barcelona to Manchester. The Reds are often reported to have been interested in signing De Jong ever since Erik ten Hag was named united manager back in 2022.
While Ten Hag was Ajax’s manager, he collaborated with the Netherlands international, which has stoked speculation that a transfer to Old Trafford may be imminent.
Barcelona is not interested in Antony
According to reports, Antony has been made an offer by Manchester United in exchange for Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong. The Netherlands international, nevertheless, has always been eager to remain where he is, even though Barcelona is willing to consider a sale that would allow them to release the Dutchman’s substantial salary.
Man United is still hopeful that they can convince the 27-year-old to leave the Catalan giants, despite their past failures in transfer windows. As they increase their efforts to capture De Jong, the Red Devils have reportedly offered Barcelona a trade proposal, according to Spanish publication El Nacional. The quick rejection of the deal should come as no surprise to anyone.
