Barcelona has firmly rejected substantial offers from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United for their promising midfielder Fermín Lopez.

Barcelona Rejects €80 Million Bids for Midfielder Fermin Lopez

The clubs each tabled bids in the region of €80 million for the 22-year-old during the recent summer transfer window.

The Catalan club, which remains in a delicate financial position, gave serious internal consideration to the proposals.

The immense fee, far exceeding initial expectations, presented a tempting solution to some of the club’s Financial Fair Play concerns.

Several voices within the organization argued the offer was too significant to refuse, especially given the current depth in the midfield position.

However, two key figures decisively ended the speculation. First, manager Hansi Flick insisted that Lopez is absolutely central to his sporting plans for the team.

The German coach explicitly demanded the club reject the advances and even stated he would be content with his current squad without new signings, provided the young midfielder stayed.

Secondly, Fermin Lopez himself never entertained the idea of a departure. The player had previously turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, making clear his sole priority is to achieve success at Camp Nou rather than seek a major payday elsewhere.

His unwavering commitment, combined with Flick’s firm veto, guaranteed his continuity at Barcelona.

In contrast, the situation for fellow academy product Marc Casado appears different. The club recognizes his playing opportunities may be limited this season, and a future transfer for him remains a possibility.
