Barcelona are set to suffer a financial loss due to the current impact of Coronavirus in Europe.

The Catalan giants are set to play their second leg versus Napoli behind closed doors. Their president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that the lack of fans in the stadium will not only affect the players mentally but also cost the club €6million.

Phew, that is not much when compared to their chase for Neymar which will cost them 30 times the money.

Bartomeu of course sounded sincere and did not make any issue at all of the loss in finances.

“There is of course an economic loss,” Bartomeu said at the Circulo Ecuestre de Barcelona. “Not only for Barcelona, but for every club that has to play behind closed doors.

“It is everyone’s problem and money is a secondary factor, health comes first.

Barcelona will lose around six million euros.

“Obviously there is regret as it affects club members, fans and the world of football.

“We are in the middle of a unique situation.”

He is right indeed with about every other league in Europe shutting down or stopping fans from coming to the stadiums.

The Cataln club drew away at Naples with Napoli 1-1 in their first leg and will need to approach the tie better as they were clearly the luckier team of the two to come away with something.
