Wojciech Szczesny Confirms Plans to Continue Smoking Despite Criticism

The Polish goalkeeper, known for his commanding presence on the field, addressed the controversy in a candid interview, making it clear that his personal choices are his own.

Szczesny’s smoking habits have raised eyebrows over the years, with photos occasionally surfacing of him enjoying a cigarette during his time at Arsenal and Juventus.

Despite the scrutiny, the 34-year-old remains unfazed. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he expressed his frustration with how his personal life is often put under the microscope.

“These are things I don’t change in my personal life, and it’s nobody’s business if I smoke,” Szczesny said, shrugging off the controversy.

“It doesn’t affect my performance. I work twice as hard on the pitch and keep it private as much as possible. I don’t smoke in front of kids, and I try to stay out of sight.”

Szczęsny also emphasized that fans and the media should focus on his skills as a goalkeeper rather than his off-field habits.

“If someone thinks I’m going to change who I am, they can think again. I want to be judged for what I do on the field, not for stories that don’t really matter.”

Despite the potential backlash, Szczesny seems comfortable balancing his personal life with his professional responsibilities.

For him, it’s about performance, and his message to critics is clear: he’s not planning to change for anyone.
