The Round of 16 match between Spain and Morocco definitely lived up to the hype.

All eight of Qatar 2022’s quarter-finalists were determined during yesterday’s World Cup round of 16 games.

The opening game of the evening pitted Spain against Morocco, and it held a lot of potential. In the first half, La Roja did not play well and struggled to get past the tenacious Moroccan defence.

Things did, however, get better in the second half as Spain produced a lot more chances but couldn’t get past the stubborn Moroccan defence. Even extra time was insufficient, and penalties were used to finish the match.

Spain had a shocking penalty shootout in which they failed to score even once, which caused them to be eliminated from the competition and allowed Morocco to advance to the quarterfinals.

Players like Jordi Alba, Pedri, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Sergio Busquets, Alejandro Balde and Ansu Fati could not do much to help Spain qualify for the Quarter Finals in Qatar. All of them like Spain had a better second half of the match but could get their national team over the line like they usually manage to do.
