Barcelona submit verbal offer for in-demand RB Leipzig attacker

Olmo has spent seven years in the youth academy of Barcelona.

As per reports, Barcelona have made a verbal offer for in-demand RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo. The talented attacker is currently playing for Spain in the Euro Championship 2024. He recently scored a goal as a substitute against Georgia in the last 16.

At club level, Olmo has established himself as a star player for Leipzig, scoring 29 goals and registering 34 assists in 148 appearances across all competitions since joining the club in 2020.

The 26-year-old can be a handy player who can guide Barcelona’s midfield. He got injured last season and still scored eight goals and five assists in 25 outings. Leipzig finished fourth in the Bundesliga to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

He extended his Leipzig contract in June last year, keeping him tied to the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2027.

The Spanish attacker admitted that he is ‘motivated’ by rumours linking him with a number of top European clubs. He refused to rule out a summer exit from Leipzig. Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all said to hold an interest in the attacker.

Olmo has spent seven years in the youth academy of Barcelona. As per 90min, Catalan giants are working to strike deal for their former academy talent and have made a verbal offer for the Leipzig man.

They can negotiate different payment structure for Olmo. He cannot afford to trigger his €60m release clause and pay that full amount up-front. Barca’s sporting director Deco is said to be a ‘huge fan’ of Olmo.
