Just one year after Vitor Roque joined the team, Barcelona agreed to the surprise transfer of the player to Palmeiras, which might result in an instant €25 million financial bonus. When Vitor Roque joined Barcelona in January 2024, a transfer that was delayed by six months due to Robert Lewandowski’s uncharacteristically poor play, he was considered one of the best players in Brazilian football.

The 19-year-old paid €30 million to join from Athletico Paranaense, but he feels he was not given the opportunities he was promised with the Camp Nou team. Lewandowski’s return to form as a scorer hindered him and made him uneasy very fast. After his entourage quickly made this public, Barca took the decision to transfer him to Real Betis in the summer. Vitor Roque, a fellow loan star, has not benefited from Antony’s comeback with the Sevilla team.

Although he has once again established himself as a regular substitute, Betis is unlikely to keep him past the end of the season given his seven goals in 31 games across all competitions.

Barcelona agree surprise €25m transfer

Barcelona is not desperate, but they are interested in selling Roque right now. Though they can’t do so for very long because Palmeiras has given them 48 hours to respond, they will consider his latest offer.

Although Roque is eager to take action, there are still a lot of questions regarding the circumstances. According to earlier reports, Betis is seeking payment in order to agree to discontinue their loan arrangement with Barcelona; however, this has caused issues because the Brazilians have no intention of delivering money to Los Verdiblancos.

Roque’s struggles in La Liga are evident, and a return home might help him turn his career around. Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that Palmeiras will receive their man in the upcoming days or weeks.
