Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has set a date for his retirement from the game.

The Spanish defender has been in Barcelona all his life excepting a small spell away in Manchester United.

However, it was in Barcelona that the defender realy hit the heights and won it all. Pique has had an illustrious career throughout.

He has been one of Barcelona’s key players in the last decade and will be signing out on a high whenever he chooses to retire.

He said, “I have always said my last team will be Barca. I have absolutely no intention of wearing any other shirt because … I have been a ‘Cule’ all my life. For me, being at Barca is the biggest dream of all.

My intention is to get to 2022, but I don’t have a crystal ball, and I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do it. If I see that I lose importance or see that I am not at the [required] level, I have no problem leaving earlier. I don’t think it will happen because I know myself and I am able to endure until 2022, but you never know.”

Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann has revealed that he does not know how to dribble.

Multiple stars from the game of football including players like Luis Suarez and Samuel Umtiti were present at a show for Puma who were unveiling their new boots.

Griezmann got in touch with his funny side as he surprisingly claimed that he is a poor dribbler.

“I don’t know how to dribble, I like to take one or two touches, at pace,” said Griezmann at the event, presented by journalist Dana Boronat.

“I like that the ball comes out cleanly and to shoot at goal,” added the Frenchman, who returns to Barcelona having got his goalscoring scent back with his country.

He joked at Umtiti’s expense: “They say these boots will help him defend better.”

Well Barcelona will not be definitely needing a dribbler given that they have the best dribbler of all time in Lionel Messi.

What the Catalan club will want is for Griezmann to be a shooter and scorer like he was for Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona have not had a good start to the news season. They have done below par with their new player and maybe the new boots can help them get their form back!

Andy Robertson has praised Jordi Alba as the best left back in the world now.

Sport quotes Robertson as saying: “For me, the best left-back in the world is Jordi Alba.”

Robertson is one of the better defenders in the world at the moment. The fact that he was not selected for the fifa XI caused a huge uproar.

He was signed by Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool two seasons ago. In his first season, he moved out Alberto Moreno, and made the spot his own.

He was a fast left back and improved on his speed with the precision of play. Robertson knows how to play both in attack and in defense and is a player any team would love to have.

He has helped Liverpool solidify their left side and increasing their attacking potent by letting Mane cut in at will. So who did he learn all this from?

Well, according to the player it is from Jordi Alba. Alba actually uses all of these traits and is brilliant at it. He has been doing it for years and is one of the few players who at left back has made telling contributions both in attack and defense.

Will Willian join Barcelona?

Will Willian join Barcelona?

Chelsea winger Willian has been reportedly linked with a move to Barcelona.

The Chelsea winger was a subject of interest from Barcelona two seasons ago. However, their transfer pursuit ended in defeat at that time.

What is interesting to see is that it has not forced Barcelona to call it quits and they are likely to go in for him again.

The last time Barcelona wanted to sign Willian, they were willing to offer Chelsea 70 million pounds plus Malcom. However, Chelsea turned down the offer.

Willian is now at the end of his contract at Chelsea. The Blues have a policy of offering one year contract at the club to players who are 30 years or older. Hence, Willian has reached a stagnant point in the contract talks with Chelsea. He wants a longer deal.

This has given Barcelona hope that they can sign the experienced winger. Moreover, unlike last time, they will not even have to pay any money to get him to join the Nou Camp.

As for Willian’s current boss, Frank Lampard, the Englishman wants to keep him at the club.

The word isn’t ‘no-brainer’ because I can’t get involved in the money, that’s up to the club to do,’ Lampard said earlier in the month. ‘But everyone sees how much I’m relying on him and what he’s producing. I love him at this football club, so there’s my answer.’

De Ligt hits back at Barcelona claim

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde knows his team missed out on signing Dutch wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt in the summer despite trying very hard.

However, their development coach Patrick Kluivert had tried to spin around a different story to the situation.

He had claimed that it was de Ligt who had missed out on joining Barcelona and now regretted joining Juventus.

“I think he is a little sorry, but it is what it is,” Kluivert told Mundo Deportivo.

“In life you make choices and sometimes you do it well and sometimes badly. You have to learn from your decisions.”

Kluivert’s insinuation that de Ligt has made a mistake was not well received by the defender. And now the defender has hit back.

“I don’t regret the fact that I have moved to Juventus,” the 21-year-old told Voetbal Primeur.

“They are saying and writing a lot of stuff.

“If a person like Kluivert says something like that, it might seem true, but it really is just his assumption.”

Well we must give kudos to Kluivert who not only failed to sign the player but now has angered him. This might be the end of Barcelona’s pursuit of de Ligt.

Why Mauricio Pochettino joining Barcelona is not an option

Why Mauricio Pochettino joining Barcelona is not an option
Bildbyran

Mauricio Pochettino is now a free man. He can choose any club he wants to manage and one of the big guns looking for a new boss is Barcelona.

However, we do not believe that Pochettino becoming the boss is a realistic option. Back in 2017, it was by his own admission that the passionate manager said that he will definitely manager other clubs but never join rivals of the clubs he has already managed.

Pochettino was the boss at Espanyol and somehow we do not see him joining their rivals.

“But I am an Espanyol supporter. I don’t think I need to speak too much. It’s like if one day [the Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy sacked me – in a few years it would be impossible for me to manage Arsenal.

In football I know it is so difficult to keep your values and to be loyal – with your heart and emotion. But for me before being a manager, before being a player, being loyal is more important. I am an Espanyol fan. I love Espanyol.

It’s like Tottenham for me now. It will be impossible, one day, to move to Arsenal. It will be impossible.”

Gerard Pique excited by Luis Enrique return

Gerard Pique and Luis Enrique worked together at one time at Barcelona.

The duo then had a brief second spell at Spain’s national camp. However, Enrique had to leave early due to some personal commitments of grave seriousness. He is now back for a new chapter in his life and Pique could not be more excited.

“I don’t know what happened, I haven’t spoken with my Barca’s team-mates because they played Monday against Romania,” said Pique. “All that I know is what I’ve read in the media and I suppose we’ll know more in a few days.

“All I can say is that I’m really excited that Luis Enrique is back as Spain coach. All that’s gone on, I suspect only a few will know.”

A lot has been made of the appointment of Luis Enrique. It is a great news for the world of football that a man who suffered such unwarranted heart break by losing his 9 year old daughter to a terminal illness has now found a purpose to live again.

We here at SS, would love nothing more than to see Enrique succeed and be happy for him and his daughter and his family.

Barcelona Signing Neymar Could Ruin Ansu Fati’s Career – Patrick Kluivert

Barcelona Signing Neymar Could Ruin Ansu Fati's Career - Patrick Kluivert

Barcelona academy director, Patrick Kluivert feels it is needless to sign Neymar in the current setup.

The Blaugrana are tipped to make another run at the PSG star in the coming months but it is a move supported by all.

Barcelona experienced the rise of one of the most prolific young talents from their academy in Ansu Fati this season. The teenager has been so impressive that it has sent Ousmane Dembele down the pecking order.

Kluivert feels Barcelona should respect their traditions of building young talent instead of chasing after multi-million-pound deals. He told RAC1, “You never know, but as you’ve seen, it’s not easy to sign Neymar. For two reasons: Qatar, and also the fact that if you bring in Neymar, you slow down some players that are already at the club.

“This is a decision that must be made internally. If you bring him in, he’s a great player. But Ansu Fati, who plays the same role, you put the brakes on him, or other players. What do we want to do? That’s what we have to ask ourselves. Do we want Neymar, do we want young players to come through, or do we want both?”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Stalling Extension In Hopes Of Barcelona Transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Stalling Extension In Hopes Of Barcelona Transfer

What seemed like a sure thing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a few months back has turned into a serious concern.

Reports emerged shortly after the summer transfer window that Arsenal are close to securing the long-term futures of Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

But a deal was never finalised and as the Gunners struggle to make a title challenge in their second season under Unai Emery, the chances of Aubameyang actually signing the extension has reduced drastically.

The Gabon international turned 30 this year and is by far, Arsenal’s best player with 9 goals in 14 appearances. He seems to be the sole outlet for goals in a very dysfunctional system at North London. As he approaches the final years of his peak, Aubameyang would ideally like to add some trophies to his career accomplishments.

In this current Arsenal side, that seems unlikely and it seems to have seeped into the striker’s mind as well. He is wanted by top European sides like Real Madrid and Barcelona. Aubameyang is hesitating on signing a new deal just to see if the Blaugrana actually come for him in January.

Luis Suarez has already conceded that Barca should be looking for his successor. But it would also be queer to see the Catalan giants go after a forward who is only 2 years younger than Suarez, no matter how prolific he might be.

Robert Moreno’s lengthy statement after being replaced by former Barcelona boss for Spain job

The return of Luis Enrique as Spain national team coach saw the swift and unceremonious sacking of Robert Moreno.

While everyone is happy for Enrique and justifiably so, a moment of thought should go out for Moreno who was rather harshly treated by the Spanish FA.

And in a statement released on Wednesday, Moreno said: “After what happened in these last days and after the agreement reached on Tuesday, November 19, I feel the need to make a statement to thank the support received during these months and say goodbye to the position of national coach.

“Faced with an extreme situation like the one we lived in Malta, I had to assume the leadership of everyone’s team. The objective of the classification entrusted to me has been achieved comfortably. I wish this situation had never occurred. Now we would be equally classified.

“Assessing the last hours in office or even the last days, would only serve to enter a spiral of reproaches and justifications for each of the parties.

“I am not going to do it. I don’t see any sense. I have a clear conscience. It is impossible to please everyone, but I sincerely tell you that I respect all and all opinions.

“I have always maintained that I am a man of my word, which would not be an impediment in the event that Luis Enrique decided to retrain.

“I have done so even though it has meant my departure. I wish him well because his joys will be ours.

“Thanks to all the players for their dedication and delivery in all concentrations. I have tried to be fair, honest and direct with them. I wanted to help them develop their task in the field in the best possible way.

“I want to emphasize that it would not have been possible for me to develop this task without Luis Enrique, Rafel, Joaquín and Jesús.

“I don’t lose a staff, what I leave behind are friends. Without forgetting the auxiliaries, very important people in a team and who are never sufficiently recognised.

“I have felt the affection of the people and I can only say thank you. Thanks to the hundreds of strangers who have come to cheer me up and congratulate me. I carry you forever in my heart.

“I thank all the members of the Royal Spanish Football Federation for the treatment received during my stay in the national team. I have felt loved and respected.

“And finally a special mention to the media for the treatment you have given me at all times. You have been very insightful in all press conferences.

“I have tried to be respectful to everyone and I have tried to serve without distinction and trying to be kind and sincere.

“I hope you value me for what I have done, not for who I am. It is what I have tried to do in the selection with the players in each call.

“I don’t want to stop apologising to anyone who feels offended for not giving the last press conference. Circumstances prevented me.

“My experience as an absolute coach began and ended in the same way, with bittersweet flavor. I have to look forward and face new challenges as a coach in my passion, football. I am prepared to face the challenge of leading new projects.”
