Jordi Alba is no longer Barcelona’s first-choice right-back.

The veteran defender is not happy with his current treatment at Barcelona.

The Catalan giants were trying to sell him to Inter on the deadline day but a move failed to materialise.

Alba is not displeased with Barcelona’s efforts to offload him.

“I can only tell you that my thought has always been to be at Barcelona. I see myself qualified to be here, otherwise I would be the first to leave,” he said at an Adidas event.

“Then the club will look at their interests. I have always shown my commitment to the club, to the coaches… I will never get into the issues of club interests, I can’t tell you more. I’d like to tell you more, but I’m not going to.

“It’s not about whether it seems fair to me or not, the situation is what it is. Everyone acts as they want and, in that sense, I can tell you how I act. I always like to go head-on. Some don’t like it, but I’m like that.

“I think you can always do things better but in football, after everything I’ve seen, I’m not surprised by anything anymore.”

Antoine Griezmann is limited to only 30 minutes a game this season.

The French forward has found himself in a weird situation at Atletico Madrid.

He is limited to playing only 30 minutes a match this season as Atletico wants to avoid triggering a clause that would force them to pay Barcelona €40m.

They don’t want to pay €40m to pay his parent club Barcelona as the forward will be available for free next summer.

Despite the strange circumstances at Atletico Madrid, he’s staying positive in the situation.

Jules Kounde has been one of the new signings this summer.

The French defender was on the verge of joining Chelsea before Barcelona made a move for him by agreeing to a deal worth €50 million plus add-ons.

Barcelona have bolstered their squad by making some key signings for a number of positions this summer.

Kounde although a central defender has a decent amount of experience at right-back that adds to the squad depth at Camp Nou.

The 23-year-old defender explains Xavi as the key reason for his move to Barcelona.

“It’s (Barcelona) still a club that generates a lot of excitement,” he said.

“Talking to the manager was also important. He gave me a lot of confidence and I liked the way he saw football. It was an easy decision because it was everything I was looking for.

“It’s a competitive group, personally I’m excited, I’m playing football to play those big games.

“We are working step by step and getting a good feeling. We have a lot of danger and they need to worry, or take us seriously.”

Ex-Barcelona captain convinced Barca now have quality to win trophies

Barcelona is doing great this season under Xavi.

Former Barcelona skipper Carles Puyol says they can win the LaLiga title this season. He also feels Xavi’s men are capable of winning the Champions League.

“A very good job has been done, there is a very good squad and it will be able to fight for all the titles,” Puyol said at the presentation of the XAP padel solidarity tournament.

“When you make an investment of this calibre, the demands are a little higher, but they are always very high.

“Barcelona, I’m convinced, can fight Real Madrid toe to toe, but now it’s up to Xavi, the players and the fans, that we all come together and are united, especially in difficult moments, that there isn’t much debate, because that way it’s easier.

“I’m convinced that it will be a great year.”

The former player highlighted the signing of Robert Lewandowski.

“He is one of the best. He’s an impressive player, he ticks a lot of boxes,” Puyol said.

“He’s not just a goalscorer, he has a lot, he holds the ball up, he knows how to combine [play]…

“He’s a complete player. I hope he wins the Ballon d’Or with Barcelona, it will be a good thing for him.

“He deserves it. He’ll have to earn it, but it would be a very good sign.”

Gavi turned in another marathon performance in midfield.

Barcelona boss Xavi singled out teenage superstar Gavi for praise following their 3-0 win over Real Betis.

Catalan giants kept up their unbeaten start to the 2022/23 La Liga season in impressive style with three crucial points at the Camp Nou.

Brazilian star Raphinha netted his first club goal, as Robert Lewandowski netted a fifth goal of the campaign, to cruise past the Andalucians.

But, 18-year-old Gavi turned in another marathon performance in midfield, on his fourth successive start of the season, alongside international teammates Sergio Busquets and Pedri.

“It doesn’t surprise me, I see him train every day”, as per reports from Marca.

“It’s down to hard work, discipline and heart.

“He was the best player in the game, because of his intensity, fight, passing, high pressing – he has heart in his legs.”

Barcelona will now start their Champions League campaign in midweek with a home tie against Viktoria Plzen on September 7 at the Camp Nou.

Marcos Alonso has officially terminated his contract with Barcelona.

The Chelsea defender ended his six-year spell with the club to join Spanish giants Barcelona on a three-year contract.

He is expected to complete his medical and sign his contract by the end of the day.

He was deemed surplus to Chelsea and the Spaniard want a new challenege elsewhere.

Chelsea said in a statement: “Marcos Alonso has left Chelsea by mutual consent, ending a six-year association with the club in which he lifted plenty of trophies and supplied Blues fans with so many memorable goals.

“A thoughtful and extremely likeable man off the pitch, Alonso was the epitome of suave around Cobham, but it is his impact in the final third that will linger longest in the mind when his six thoroughly successful seasons in SW6 are reflected upon in the years to come.

Everyone at Chelsea Football Club would like to thank Marcos for his service to the Blues and wish him all the very best for the rest of his career.”

Manchester United exploring the possibility of signing Sergino Dest from Barcelona.

The USMNT international wants an exit this summer and could leave Camp Nou for Old Trafford on the deadline day.

Man United can transfer or loan out Aaron Wan-Bissaka before the transfer window closes this Thursday.

Current United manager Erik ten Hag considers Wan-Bissaka as surplus and wants to offload him in the summer either on loan or a permanent deal.

Dest has fallen out of favour under manager Xavi and has struggled to make any major impact at Camp Nou in the past two seasons.

The 21-year-old defender earlier suggested that he’s not looking for a move this summer.

Dest said: “I am happy at Barcelona, in the club. Definitely, I will stay here. I believe that we cannot play in the Europa League anymore. We have a lot of talent. We are trying to create a new generation and this takes time.”
