Ronald Araujo is getting closer to the end of his contract with Barcelona. Some top European clubs are planning to sign him. A new deal still hasn’t been agreed.

Football Espana reports he’s actually turned down their latest deal and is unimpressed by their wage offers.

Chelsea have been linked with him on a free transfer this summer. Blues can lose their players as Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen are linked with him.

22-year-old Araujo was really thrown into Barcelona in the collapse of the team under Ronald Koeman and has been one of the players to come out of the disaster zone with some credit.

The Uruguayan impressed Thomas Tuchel and he has shades of Antonio Rudiger. Chelsea can look for a better player in that position.

Barcelona’s Transfer Window Is Not Closed Yet

Barcelona's Transfer Window Is Not Closed Yet

With a week left on the transfer window, Barcelona is still considering their trade options open and they’re actively looking to add more players to their squad before the end of this month. Xavi Hernandez has already added Spanish star Ferran Tores to his squad at Camp Nou and the team is still keeping their eyes open for the opportunity to sign more players.

Barcelona hasn’t lost interest in adding a new attacker on the team since the arrival of Ferran Torres, but thanks to the surprisingly pleasant performances from Luuk De Jong, the two are expected to spearhead Barcelona’s attack this season.

The Catalans have already signed Dani Alves to their team on a free transfer and coach Xavi wants them to sign two more players before the January transfer window closes according to vwin99.net site, an authorized sportsbook from Asia. Coach Xavi is actively looking for a center-forward, especially now that Ansu Fati will be out with an injury for some time.

According to several sports reports, Xavi sees Alvaro Morata as the best choice for a center forward, as the striker has lots of experience in the LA Liga when he was with Atletico Madrid. However, Juventus is expected to make the negotiations hard for Barcelona. However, as good as Morata is and Barcelona is interested in adding him to their squad, that can’t happen without them letting go of a player or two.

Considering that the Catalans might need to let go of a few players, some of the most likely to exit the team include Sergino Dest, Samuel Umtiti, and Ousmane Dembele. However, only Dembele has rejected a new deal.

Umtiti has already signed a contract to cut his salary, giving room for Ferran’s registration, while Dest strongly wants to stay at Camp Nou although coach Xavi hasn’t been convinced. Dest has recently been linked to transfer rumors to Chelsea in the last few weeks, but his agent says that claims that the rumor might not come to fruition this winter.

Dest has put in an impressive performance at Camp Nou since joining the team last season from Ajax, making him among the best young right-backs in the world. His attacking nous, excellent tactical qualities, and athleticism have given the Dutchman a spot in the starting XI and have attracted the attention of various clubs across Europe. However, his agent has revealed that Dest is happy with the Catalans and represents a superb young option for Barcelona as a potential asset to trade in the future.

Various reports have also revealed that Barcelona is looking to add a full-back that can play on either flank, although the chances of adding two players on their team within a week might be difficult. Of course, any possible signings will depend on the club’s ability to offload players first, with Dembele looking highly likely to leave. Nonetheless, it’s not clear whether Dembele will leave before the end of the January transfer window, despite being told by the club that he’ll be sold.

Dembele is believed to be a target for several teams like Chelsea, Juventus, and Manchester on a free transfer, but he has insisted that he won’t be forced out of the squad. His manager, Mousa Sissoko is expected to travel to Barcelona for talks this week and discuss his current situation. However, the 24-year-old was excluded from the team that played against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday night in the Copa del Rey competition.

Despite Dembele’s situation, Barcelona might bring Andreas Christensen to Camp Nou. The Denmark international is expecting his contract with Chelsea to expire this season and it doesn’t seem like he’s planning to extend his over a decade-long career in West London.

According to reports, Christensen has been offered a contract by the blues, but Denmark International hasn’t accepted a renewal. However, Barcelona seems very interested in the services of the 25-year-old, and talks between the two teams are at an advanced stage.

Chelsea didn’t include Christensen in several games last November, and manager Thomas Tuchels confessed that it was mainly because of his contract situation. However, despite Christensen’s refusal to renew his contract with Chelsea, he has featured in eight games in all Chelsea’s competitions since then.

Christensen is currently among Chelsea’s lowest earners, with a weekly salary of €100,000 pre-tax. As such, the Denmark international wants his salary doubled, which might see him receive almost €10 million per year. However, Chelsea has failed to convince the Danish player to spend the prime years of his career in West London and a move to Barcelona seems like a real option.

What’s Next For Barcelona?

At its current state, Coach Xavi Hernandez doesn’t consider Barcelona’s team to be where he wants. As such, with only a few days left in the January transfer window, the Catalan’s coach is keen on making several moves before it closes.

Xavi has already met with Rafa Yuste, Mateu Alemany, and Joan Laporta, making it clear that his team needs reinforcements. The coach wants to bring in a center-back as Samuel Umtiti won’t be available for three months and a left-back to help Jordi Alba get a break. Additionally, Oscar Mingueza is almost leaving to advance his career elsewhere and with Ansu Fati’s injury, the team will need a new forward.

Sergio Busquets has hindered Frenkie de Jong’s progress

Sergio Busquets has been very sluggish this season.

The veteran midfielder has struggled a lot this season and was responsible for Real Madrid’s goal in the recent El Clasico after he lost possession of the ball.

Despite his recent form, Xavi has backed Busquets forcing De Jong to play out of his natural position.

De Jong has managed only two goals and assists this season in all competitions.

Busquets’ presence has hampered De Jong’s development and also the constant change of managers at Barcelona.

Former Barca player Ronald de Boer is not happy with De Jong’s development at the club.

“The constant changes of coaches can affect him [de Jong], as well as the fact that Busquets is still key in the midfield,” de Boer told El Pais.

“Sometimes coaches and clubs hold on to players who had to step down a long time ago. The future in Barcelona is De Jong, Gavi, Pedri, and Nico. With these, they have an amazing midfield.”

“Busquets is holding the whole team. Busquets hinders de Jong’s development,” he added.

Jordi Alba admits frustration at Barcelona criticism

Alba has been the first choice of Xavi at left-back this season, despite this intimated criticism from outside.

Barcelona star Jordi Alba has hit back at his critics after the club’s difficult start to 2022 for Xavi’s side.

The Catalan giants suffered exit from two Spanish competitions this month. They saw a semifinal exit against Real Madrid in Supercopa. Later, Athletico Club defeated them in a round-of-16 fixture of Copa del Rey. They also saw a group stage exit from the Champions League after a long time.

Barcelona’s La Liga campaign is also going great as they are fighting for the top four finish. Barca earned a scrappy 1-0 win at Alaves this weekend, courtesy of Frenkie de Jong’s late strike.

Jordi Alaba said, “I have felt singled out for criticism for many years”, as per reports from Marca.

“This is not the first time it’s happened to me and I accept all criticism, as it’s part of the circus that is generated in football.

“If I play a good game, the critics don’t talk about it, but if I play like the other day they kill me.

“But this is normal and I accept it.”

Alba’s experience has remained as an ever present asset in 2021/22. He has been the first choice of Xavi at left-back this season, despite this intimated criticism from outside.

Ansu Fati might undergo surgery again and will decide on Monday.

The youngster has been able to make only 10 appearances this season due to his injury issues.

He returned to training earlier this month after being out for two months with his hamstring tear.

He sustained a tendon injury in the left hamstring in Thursday’s 3-2 defeat against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey.

According to reports, Fati will be out for 6-8 weeks without surgery and three months if he goes under the knife.

This would be a considerable blow for Xavi’s men who are battling for a top-four spot in the league table and will play Napoli next month in the Europa League.

“We have had a meeting with the family and on Monday we will have a meeting with Ansu and the club doctors to make a decision,” Xavi said in Saturday’s news conference.

“It’s a recurring injury. It’s out of our control. We will now get an exhaustive and specific plan in place to ensure that he never gets injured again.”

BREAKING: Oscar linked with a move to Barcelona

BREAKING: Oscar linked with a move to Barcelona
Bildbyran

Barcelona is in talks to sign Oscar this January window.

The former Chelsea midfielder joined Shanghai Port in 2017 and is expected to make a possible return to Europe this year.

He earns £540,000-a-week in China and the wages could be a stumbling block for Blaugrana.

However, Barcelona could sign him on a six-month loan and pay him a small percentage of his salary.

“Barcelona reached out to my agent to know about this possibility, they knew football in China will stop until March. So maybe, but Barca is facing a difficult time now,” Oscar said.

“I was told about this interest, I guess they’re still trying to figure something out. Barca has this issue about registering new signings and they’d still need to sort talks with my club.

“They would want for me to join until the end of the season. They’re still talking, it’s ongoing, but there’s this problem with the new signings – I guess Dani Alves has faced some.

“It’s nice to see a great club interested in you. We didn’t have any talks so far, there’s no point doing that if Barcelona can’t register new players right now. Barca is trying to sort their end out, then maybe I’ll talk to my agent so we can arrange something.

“It’d be an incredible opportunity for me, for Barcelona too. I’m in great form here, it would be great for my career.”

Dembele won’t be considered for selection after denial from new contract.

Ousmane Dembele has hit back at Barcelona after Thursday’s declaration by sporting director Mateu Alemany that he must leave.

Barcelona have declared they will sell the France international after he refused to sign a new contract this month. He also won’t be considered for selection.

He detailed in a social media post, “For four years gossip about me has been built up, there have been shameful lies about me for the sole purpose of harming me.

“I have never responded, but today it’s over.

“I am going to answer without giving in to any kind of blackmail, I dismiss anyone who thinks that I’m not committed to the sporting project, I’m still under contract and I’m fully involved and at the disposal of my coach, I’m not a man who gives in to blackmail.”

However, the Frenchman is being linked with a move to Premier League as Manchester United and Newcastle United are in contact with him. He has made 10 appearances for Barca including 6 in La Liga this term. The club is already going through a rough phase.

Barcelona are looking to add a left-back to bolster their first-team squad

As it currently appears, the likes of  Alejandro Balde may need to go out on loan to enhance his development. Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo has emerged as a possible replacement for Jordi Alba.

According to Diario Sport, Grimaldo’s contract with the Portuguese club expires in the summer of 2023, and the club’s plan is for him to either renew at the end of the season or be transferred for a reasonable cost. Last year, they asked €30 million for him, but there were no takers.

But there’s also the long-running chase for Valencia’s Jose Gaya. He is currently negotiating a contract extension with his club, but because his deal is slated to expire in the summer of 2023, he could be sold if he does not extend. While Gaya’s objective is to remain at Mestalla, Barcelona is keeping an eye on the situation. However, Grimaldo, who left Barcelona for Benfica in 2015, is also a possibility.

On the other hand, fresh developments report that Alex Telles features on a five-man shortlist of left-back targets for Barcelona should he consider his Manchester United future, it has been claimed.

Xavi tells Barcelona will sell Dembele this month if he fails to sign a new contract.

The 24-year old French international has entered the final six months of his Barcelona contract and there has been constant negotiations over a contract renewal in the past few months.

He joined the Catalan giants back in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for a £110million fee which turned out to be a disaster signing for Barca.

There has been constant discussion between the club and player’s camps to make a decision on the winger’s future.

“Either he renews or we’ll find him a way out,” Xavi told reporters on Wednesday. “In the end, the club has decided that if he does not renew, a solution must be found.

“We have to do what is best for the club. We are in a situation where we have to stop in our tracks, [director of football] Mateu Alemany has been talking with him and his representatives for five months.”

He added: “[Dembele] tells me he wants to continue – that’s a question for him. I couldn’t have been more clear. It has not disappointed me. It is a very difficult case.”

Gavi garners interests from top clubs amid Barcelona contract uncertainty

Gavi garners interests from top clubs amid Barcelona contract uncertainty

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is attracting plenty of interest amid his uncertain contract situation.

Since breaking onto the scene, the youthful midfielder has been a revelation, becoming a first-team regular at the age of 17. When he was 11 years old, the midfielder was snapped up by the Barcelona academy.

Before making his debut for Barcelona B, he signed his first professional deal with the club in September 2020. He was promoted to the first team in 2021 and made his senior debut for the Spanish National team. Gavi, who is already a Spain international, is well on his way to becoming a world-class player.

That makes the Blaugrana susceptible, and a lot of prominent teams around Europe are already aware of it. According to El Nacional, the youngster has a release clause of £41.75million and City are willing to make an approach if the opportunity arises.

According to Sport, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich have all indicated interest in the midfielder and are keeping a close eye on his contract status.

Xavi already considers Gavi to be a rising talent and one to keep an eye on in the future. And, while Barcelona will certainly do everything in their might to keep him, Gavi’s contract expires in 2023.

Gavi has been with Barcelona since 2015, and he is likely to prioritise his stay at the club, especially considering the number of opportunities he is going to have under Xavi Hernandez. But it’s apparent that if a contract falls through, Gavi will have lots of offers, including top-tier bids.
