The novel CoVID-19 has spread across 140 countries throughout the world.

It has brought the world to a halt and shutdown all entertaintment based businesses.

It has shut down football all across Europe, which is the new epicentre of the disease.

La Liga has followed protocol and indefinitely suspended the league. There is hope that it might restart in May or June but there is no guarantee exactly how badly it will affect everyone.

Financial hits have already started coming with broadcasters asking for their money back and revenue at clubs going down.

Hence, many clubs across Europe have started asking their players and managers to start taking pay cuts.

Barcelona have become the latest club to do so.

Barcelona said in a statement: “This crisis has had a negative impact on the football industry and sport in general. The club has to look at all possible scenarios and analyse the situation so as to minimise the economic consequences.”

Since there is no certainty that the season will be cancelled either, all four captains of the club – Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Segio Busquets and Sergi Roberto have all agreed to take pay cuts only should it deem necessary.
